Back in the Hospital

This just is not fair. Kadyn's fever has gone up to 104. He was just fine until we were done with the antibiotic. Kadyn's fever went up to 104.2 and I rushed Kadyn in. They did CT scan and he still has sinus infection plus the fearful part is that his white blood cell count is low :( I decided to google reason's why they would be low. Bad IDEA!!!

Here is what I found:

A low white blood cell count usually is caused by one of the following:

  • Viral infections that temporarily disrupt bone marrow function
  • Congenital disorders characterized by diminished bone marrow function
  • Cancer or other diseases that damage bone marrow
  • Autoimmune disorders that destroy white blood cells or bone marrow cells
  • Overwhelming infections that use up white blood cells faster than they can be produced
  • Drugs that destroy white blood cells or damage bone marrow

Specific causes of low white blood cell count include:

Although some of these are not scary, most are. The word Cancer in anything is scary all in itself. I am about to lose my mind. I just hope it's from a virus or even the infection, although last time it wasn't low. We will get more answers in the next 48 hours. Until then here we stay in the hospital.

Anything that says congenital, you can just forget about because his white cell count would have been low all along. The most common cause for a low white cell count is an infection, which you know he has. So take a deep breath (I know you can't help it ... you're a mom) and try to relax. :)

Augmentin can create a low blood cell count, as many antibiotics do. Hope its nothing serious. I wish him a speedy get well wish!
